Main shaft of wind turbine

The main shaft of a wind turbine is a crucial component that connects the turbine's blades to its base. It is hollow and made of stainless steel. Machining the inner hole of the main shaft is relatively difficult, and the specialized equipment used for processing the main shaft is a deep-hole drilling and boring machine. Given the characteristics of the wind turbine main shaft, the headstock of this deep-hole drilling and boring machine needs to be heightened.

The main shaft of a wind turbine exhibits both radial and axial runout. In practice, the axial runout of the main shaft is directly transmitted to the input shaft of the gearbox. Unless special measures are taken for the radial clearance of the self-aligning roller bearings, the control of axial clearance, and the positioning of the planet gears, the axial runout will exert adverse effects on the carrier support bearings inside the gearbox.
